12/18/07 - Introducing Makenna Nicole Walker, and other stuff

First things first, we have decided on a name for our baby girl. Makenna Nicole Walker. We spent quite a bit of time analyzing different names, different spellings and at the end of the day, that is what we liked.

Yesterday, we had a 4d ultrasound done at Baby Views in Little Rock. They have a website, but I can't be bothered to actually find it and hyperlink it. We were very happy to be able to have my mom, Cristi's mom and Aunt Bev be there for the event. It was really incredible to be able to see such amazing images of the baby. You'll see in a bit that I have included all 20 of the images they provided on a cd. They also give you a dvd, but I haven't looked at it yet to see what they put on it. Outside of finding out that it appears Makenna is going to have my facial features including my nose and cheeks (poor thing), we found out that everything is forming as expected, she's slightly larger than average in both weight and length and she's possibly the most beautiful baby anyone has ever seen (alright, those last few are my words, but can you blame me). As you can see in the pictures, she was very stubborn and refused to put her face where she was supposed to. There was about a 10 second period where she did look right at the "camera" and she did yawn good for us. But other than that, if she would look at the screen like in the last picture, she would cover her face wit her hand. My favorite picture is the 2nd to last with the split image. In that one, she has her eyes open and it is the clearest as far as I'm concerned.

So here are the pictures in order. I'll save the commentary on each of them but you can see that some are better than others. For a larger view, click on each one.

12/4/07 - Movies and Guitar Hero

This past weekend, we rented two movies. One movie we had planned on watching together and another that Cristi would never want to watch that I could watch after she went to bed. Due to unforseen circumstances, we wound up watching Epic Movie first and while Cristi slept through it, I realized that it was a horrible movie (just like I had expected). The other movie we rented was Live Free Or Die Hard...the newest Die Hard movie. I was pleasantly surprised with the whole thing. PLENTY of action, some incredibly unbelievable "stunts" including a match between an F35 fighter jet and a semi truck. It is definitely a movie that I would watch again if the opportunity ever came up.

Guitar Hero II. What can I say. I've spent way too much time playing this game for reasons I can not explain. I'm not a musical person, and although I listen to music probably about 10 hours a day, I've never played a musical instrument (recorders don't count) and have never had a desire to play. Guitar Hero however has turned me into a rock star. If completed Easy and Medium all with 5 stars and am currently working my way through the Hard difficulty. Although I'm only scoring 3 stars on Hard difficulty, I have pulled out a five star and a few four stars. This of course only gives me the opportunity to improve. Basically, the only reason I mentioned that is so I could brag and tell everyone that the game is really fun.
