4/20/07 - Last update for a while

So today was my last day for the weight in in the Biggest Loser competition at work. Last week, I think I mentioned that I had a pretty big week and that pushed me into first place. This week, I just wanted to extend my lead by a little to make me more comfortable. I had actually gained 3 pounds from the last weigh in as of Thursday morning when I woke up. I ate lunch at around 11:00 and didn't eat again until just a few minutes ago (about 10:30). I drank water so I didn't die and then after work, Phillip and I mowed 5 lawns in about 2 hours or so (give or take about half an hour). That was plenty to burn a few calories and sweat out a little bit of excess water, but I decided to take it a step further. When I got home, I put on a plastic trash bag (cut holes for the head and arms) and then put on a heavy hoodie and sweat pants. I tied the hood up over my head to keep the cooling effects of the wind to a minimum. When I got done running (about 45 mintues) I took off the plastic bag and water literally poured out of it. I weighed not long after that and I had lost 4 pounds since that morning and knew that overnight I would lose another 2-3 pounds. I was correct and when I weighed in, I was down another 2.8 pounds putting me at a total loss at just over 12% body weight. 2nd place has pretty much conceded and I'm not sure if any of the others would be able to lose the amount necessary over the weekend in a healthy manner.

So we leave tomorrow at around 6 in the morning for San Antonio. We had planned on going to Houston, Dallas, Austin perhaps and a few other places, but we've changed our plans. After we found out how much stuff we wanted to do in San Antonio, we were running out of time to get stuff done, so those other cities had to take a back seat. At this point, the only thing we have scheduled for sure is Sea World on Sunday. After that, we are just going to play it by ear and based on the weather, do different things. If I think about it (which I won't), I'll try to update a couple times while we are down there to let every one know how things are going, what we've been doing, and maybe a picture or two.

4/12/07 - Holy smokes, put on your reading glasses

What in the world can I talk about today. There is so much that I can say, but don't feel like it. I want to thank all those people who have kept Cristi and I in your thoughts and prayers over the last week or so. We are both doing very well and look forward to moving on. For those not familiar with what I'm talking about, I'd prefer to keep it that way. It's nothing personal, just something that Cristi and I would prefer to keep very close to us.

On to some good news. Tonight is the home opener for the Arkansas Travelers. The new stadium, Dickey-Stephens Park, from what I've seen is incredible. I was expecting there to be some pictures of it online, but apparently they changed the website in the last week since I last viewed it. I drove by accidentally (I got lost) along the outfield wall and I was amazed at how good everything looked. I plan on going to several games this summer if time allows, but I can guarantee you that I will make at least one game this season considering I think there has only been on year as far back as I can remember where I haven't made at least one game.

For those of you that follow sports, politics or have turned on a television in the last week or so, I'm sure you are familiar with the whole Imus situation. Personally, I'm sick of the whole thing. Although I've never listened/watched Imus' show, I think it's horrible that he is being destroyed the way he is. Although his comments might be construed as "wrong" by some, his comments are nothing worse than anything you might hear in rap "music" (and I use the term music lightly). The man apologized for his comments, which I don't think he should have done in the first place, and yet still, a large portion (or possible a small-overspoken portion) of our country would love to see his head served on a silver platter. As far as I'm concerned, give the guy his show back, don't change anything, and if you don't like what he says....CHANGE THE F*#@*( STATION!!!

I've been having problems sleeping at night and then once falling asleep, I can't wake up in the morning. Monday and Tuesday I took sleeping pills to go to sleep and I was in bed, snoozing by 9:00. Even with my alarm set at 7:00am, I didn't get out of bed until 8:30 (roughly). The last two nights, I was in bed at 9:00 and then 11:30 and didn't fall asleep either night until well after 1:00 in the morning. However, the morning after, I was still able to get out of bed at about 8:30 with about the same amount of effort as the previous two nights after very solid sleep for nearly twice as long. This normally wouldn't be an issue, but I'd really like to be able to get to work at 7:00-8:00 so I can work a full 8 hours and still have plenty of day light to cut grass in the afternoons.

I know this is long, but it's been a while since I've made an update and I feel like typing. The weather has been horrible as of late. I don't care how old I get, where I live or what I'm planning, I will NEVER enjoy weather that requires anything more than shorts and a t-shirt. I think that 65F is still too cold and would rather see 90+ temperature any day. Last weekend, I had to wear long pants and a sweatshirt to cut in and I was miserable the whole time. My hands were ice cold and since I wanted full control over my equipment, I really didn't think wearing gloves was a good idea. Speaking of protection though, I recently bought some sunglasses/protective eyewear. They are a little too big for my face, but for protective eyewear, I think they are pretty cool. I've even worn them a time or two while driving to help keep the sun out of my eyes.

I setup some archives for my past posts to keep the front page from getting super long. Of course, I don't really update long enough for it to get real long, but I like how it looks. I still want to get it setup to automatically archive stuff, that way I don't have to update a ton of html files every time a new month roles over. That's going to require a fairly large amount of time, because I'd like to get my website into .net2.0 which I have done no work with (except a few code changes here at work). That might also give me an opportunitly to more easily add a comment section to my posts which is something that I know at least one person has requested (maybe she still reads my website). The change to the website would also allow for the addition of an RSS feed which I know some people would use.

ooo....Biggest Loser competition...it's been a while (the beginning of the competition) since I've provided an update. Well, after leading the first two weeks, I fell behind and was actually as low as 5th place in the standings. I slowly worked my way back up and this past week I took the lead with an amazing 6 pound loss. As of this past Monday, I was at 11.1% loss and 2nd place was at 8.7% weight loss. If my math is correct, assuming we started out at the same weight (which 2nd place started quite a bit heavier than myself) and I stayed the same weight at the next weight in, 2nd place would have to lose 4 pounds to tie me. Of course, with the starting weight difference, I would guess that it would take closer to 6 pounds. In other words, as long as I lose another pound or two, I've got it in the bag.

Analytics by google is an incredible tool. I used to use metaTraffic to track website traffic, but I was unable to get it setup with goDaddy's hosting so I decided to go with Analytics and I love it. I know that a large part of my visitors come from Dan's website and that I average about 10 visits a day. This is a large increase from previous data where I was averaging roughly 2-3 visitors a day. The P90x information gets me a good chunk of those visitors, mainly from google, msn and yahoo searches and I'm still wanting to increase the amount of information I have there. Eventually, I might add a Yoga Booty Ballet page because Cristi has shown some interest in using those vidoes.

I've typed long enough, I need to get back to work, you probably need to get back to work, and I'm sure if anyone actually read this far, you are very thankful I'm wrapping this all up. Oh yeah...DON'T FORGET YOUR TAXES. I'll be putting mine in the mail first thing in the morning.

4/5/07 - untitled

No way has it been since March 22nd since my last update. I had no idea it had been that long. I honestly can't think of anything to really post about. I'm sure I'm going to have tons to talk about next week, but for now, life is a wonderful thing.

The lawn care business is really starting to take off. Although I'm not overwhelmed, it's really exciting to see something that I've always wanted to be able to do take off. I've got lots to take care of this weekend as most of my customers managed to request services in a short 3 day period. The gas station that Cristi and I typically get gas from has stopped accepting American Express (in fact, from my understanding, all Shell gas stations no longer accept AMEX). Because of this, I'm still undecided if we will keep getting gas there, or if we will go somewhere else. We do have other cards, but the AMEX provides the best rewards.

March Madness is over, so I expect to see a sharp drop in visitors until next March. This really doesn't matter, because one of the big reasons people like high traffic volumes is for ad revenue, and no one clicks on the ad sense ads. I really don't like the ads, but it just seems foolish to not at least attempt to get some sort of revenue from it. Whatever though, I might take them down, but I seriously doubt it. I think they are setup where they aren't very offensive anyways.

We leave for vacation in a few weeks for San Antonio. We plan on visiting the Alamo (we are staying right across the street). I'm going to be looking for PeeWee's bike in the basement of the Alamo, that should be exciting (thanks Dad for reminding me). We are going to travel the Riverwalk several days, do some shopping, go to the zoo, Chipotle and Sea World. We'll be there for several days and then go to Houston for a day to see an Astros. Then it's back home for one more day of relaxing before it's back to work and cutting grass.
