1/29/07 - Kidney Stones, Gatorade and Biggest Loser

First of all, I'm going to talk about my kidney stone. I'm going to the urologist tomorrow to verify that that is actually what it is. But for now, I'm claiming it's a kidney stone. I've attached some pictures of it with a dime for size comparison. I couldn't get the camera to get a good close up shot, so they are a little blurry.

I also mentioned my inability to find Lemonade Gatorade anywhere. I've checked two Wal-Marts, Sam's Club and two Kroger stores and the only thing I have found was a few single serving bottles at Kroger. If ANYONE knows where I can find some, please let me know. I'm even willing to pay for shipping (to an extent) to have it delivered right to my door. As much as I drink (as much as a gallon a day), I wouldn't have a problem buying in bulk directly from Gatorade. I'm hoping to leave that as a last resort. Send me an email at GravyTrain6@gmail.com if you know where I can find some, preferably in the central Arkansas area.

Next, Biggest Loser at work started two weeks ago. The idea behind it is the same concept as the NBC Biggest Loser tv show. Anyone who wanted to could sign up for $25. At the end of three months, whoever has lost the most weight by percentage wins the whole pot. There are also penalties for gaining weight between weigh-ins, and weigh-ins happen every two weeks. Today was the first checkpoint and yours truly is in first with a 3% weight loss (2.5 kg, you can do the math if you want). My fear is that I won't be able to keep that pace, because if I do, after 3 months, I'll weigh around 140 or so, and that is much less than what I want to weigh. We'll see how it goes though.

1/26/07 - Finally an update, no hosting

So I finally signed up with GoDaddy for my hosting now. I also purchased two new domains for my new business venture. I haven't had a chance to update that site. Right now, all it says is "This is a test page". I was going to update earlier, but I was having problems getting ftp access and I couldn't be bother figuring out what I was doing wrong. So here's your update, and even this is pretty weak. If I get home tonight, and have some time, I'll try to update again, with better information, including information about the kidney stone I passed, my inability to find Lemonade Gatorade, the company version of Biggest Loser, and anything else I think of. I also recently realized that this page does not display very well in Firefox. Since I did all the adjustments at work, and I only have IE6, I didn't realize it. Heck, I might even COMPLETELY change the design. Who knows what I'm going to do....I'm crazy.

1/9/07 - Wow, interesting stuff

Although none of it real important, several interesting things have happened the last couple of days. Starting yesterday, they shut down downtown Austin because they found nearly 100 dead birds and then in New York, the city was covered in a cloud of odor that people were saying smelled like natural gas. Then, last night, the Gators put the thump down on Ohio State to win the NCAA Football National Champtionship making them the first D1 school (might be all divisions) to hold the football and basketball title at the same time. Then, today, the MLB Hall of Fame made their announcements and Cal Ripken Jr and Tony Gwynn made it in this year. McGwire did not make it, and I'm glad. Canseco and Caminiti, two other names mentioned greatly with steroids did not get enough votes to even stay on the ballot next year. Hershiser also got knocked off which suprised me.

Now to the information that led me to make this post. Anyone who reads Digg already knows this as the story was promoted to the front page quicker than any I've seen and already has more diggs than probably 95% of stories ever, but Apple introduced the iPhone. Not only that, it is a widescreen iPod. I am the furthest thing from an Apple fanboy, as I've never owned anything apple and even talked my younger brother out of purchasing an iPod two years ago, but this thing looks pretty sweet. Sweet enough that I might consider getting one. I'm always downloading tv shows and have been searching for audiobooks, and this just seems like it would work well for me. On to of that, it runs OSX (which i'm not up to snuff on apple os), but it's basically a handheld computer with full-sized web browsing. Although I would never purchase a first generation anything, and probably couldn't afford this when it actually starts selling (much less actually find one) in the next couple of years, I might be singing the praises again about this iPhone.

1/4/07 - Happy New Year (a few days late)

So the new business is coming right along. As some people know, I've got the lawnmower and am currently searching for the trailer. I think I'm leaning towards a 6x12 enclosed trailer. I found a used one in the paper today and am waiting to see some pictures of it so determine if I want it or not. I'm in the process of setting up the new business bank account through Regions since my wonderful cousin suggested I go with her bank. I'm also in the process of getting liability insurance. I've only gotten one quote and am still waiting on another company, but I'm hoping this next quote is more affordable. Once I get the bank account setup and money deposited, I'll start purchasing the smaller items (edger, trimmer, blower). The guy I bought the mower from suggested I get the most expensive trimmer from either Lowe's or Home Depot (I can't remember which one). He said that they are commercial grade and have served him well over the last several years he has done that. I'm also going to need to do some maintenance on my current equipment since I'll be using all of it as backup next year.

As soon as I purchase the domain for the new business, I'll be sure to share that with everyone as well. That reminds me, I need to get a new credit card for purchases like that. Hmm....I'll look into that now. I wonder if Region's offers a check card with checking accounts. I'll look into that first.

New Years was not very eventful, we watched the ball drop and then went to bed. Since then though, I've gotten two fillings on the right side of my mouth. I would love to write about that experience, but I refuse to relive the whole thing. I also found out that I have some sort of infection or something going on in my stomach region. I'm on a few pills for that and now my urine is dark orange.

1/1/07 - Welcome to the new OrtOrt.com

I'm going to give this new look a try and see where it takes me. I'm going to make minor adjustments over time to really make it my own. Once again, I got this layout from OSWD but I'll customize it until I can almost call it my own.

Hopefully, I'll set it up to handle comments at some point. Of course, I have to send a big shout out to Dotcom Internet for hosting my website. Apparently, there was a bit of confusion and so I am no longer being hosted by my previous employer. If you've got any feedback on the new design, feel free to send me an email and let me know.
